Question: Does this annoy anyone else?
people who let their cats outside and then come here all upset that they have run away, or get run over or killed by an animal or their neighbor is upset with them because their cat is using their yard as a bathroom.
I feel really bad for those cats who are in those bad situations. if the owners don’t want to take care of the animals properly then take them to a no kill shelter.
another pet peve of mine, why people who can’t afford animals get them, how many people come here because their cat is sick or injured and they can’t afford the vet. or they buy crappy “food” for their cat and don’t understand why they are sick. Maybe go with out going out to eat a few times a week, go with out buying that new outfit or something so you can get the proper care for your animals. and if you just barely get by on your own, don’t take on taking care of an animal, it’s not fair to the animal.
common people!

The Stew that Alice Brewed
The stew that Alice brewed
Tasted a bit fickle
So while the cat mewed
She added in another pickle.
Her friends all said “This is good food!”
And her cat begged for some tickles
Alice’s customers chewed and chewed and chewed
And they all gave her shiny nickles!

Question: what would you do in this situation?
my roommate (bill) keeps bringing this friend of his (bob) over to my apartment. When ever bob comes over he completely disrespects me buy his actions. I have a very playfully aggressive kitten (coffee) who me and my fiance (jay) are trying to teach that hands are not toys. Well when ever bill brings bob over bob will st on the couch and ruff house with my kitten, all the time me asking, “please don’t do that”, and, “if you want to play with him use a toy” and ETC. The whole time i talk hes saying “yea yea hes a kitten, im homing his skills” “aww but hes so cute”. What should i do about this situation. my fiance trys to help and picks the cat up and removes him, but im really thinking about moving out because i can’t handle my roommates stupid freaking friends. I cant afford it right now so what do i do to get these people to understand that its MY cat and if they want to play with coffee they need to do it in my guidelines?
Coffee’s play is rough naturally so all i can do about him is get him to attack toys instead of humans.

Question: Why do Veterinary Associations “certify” Crappy dog foods such as this one that that a friend gave.?
I’m currently looking after 8 four week old puppies that I got from a friend. Their mother was run over. My friend gave me the following canned dog food along with another crap dog food called “Super Saver”.
Its called “No Name® meat mix” its 624 g
Ingredients: water sufficient for processing, meat by-products, chicken, poultry by-products, soybean meal, barley, textured soy protein product, wheat middlings, ocean fish, tricalcium phosphate, salt, guar gum, choline chloride, vitamins (vitamin E, AB12, D3 supplements, thiamin mononitrate, biotin, riboflavin supplement) minerals (ferrous sulfate, zinc, oxide, copper proteinate, manganous sulfate, potassium iodide, sodium selenite) iron oxide.
I know that this is crap dog food because I had asked earlier about this and Super Saver.
My question is: Why does this dog food say “Certified by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association to meet its Nutritional Standards”???
I have heard many people on here talk about how bad dog foods similar to “No Name® meat mix” that come from the super market for .99 cents a can, are to feed to any dog or puppy, so why is this Association putting their name on this “garbage food”???
I already know about euthanized dogs, cats and dead livestock being used as Meat By-Products, but do these Vets have any idea about that, or do they just refuse to believe that it really goes on?
By the way: I haven’t fed this food to the puppies since I was told about how bad it is.
Oops, I didn’t notice that I spelled “That” two times.
Mac, I have read these about dogs and cats being used in dog food, I think you should, too, then tell me what you think.
http://earthislandprojects.org/eijournal/fall97/fe_fall97petfood.html
It mentions the drugs that are used to euthanize the shelter animals being inside crap pet food.
This is an article about West Coast Rendering which has been known to be a big supplier of
these Mystery Meat By-Products that are in many super market pet foods. They talk with the owner about using dead dogs and cats.

Question: Overcoming abuse by previous owners? Dog is petrified of my broom?! Never seen ANYTHING this bad…stumped?!?
Stopped at a gas station yesterday I would normally not stop at. Not quite sure why.Guy earlier had apparently slowed his truck down, kicked her out in the MIDDLE of a four land road, and then drove off.I believe if you find it you were chosen.. lucky me.Yes, of course I brought her home. She’s bout 3 months old.
She came in with dogs, cats and a toddler(after we left the vet of course) and made her lil self right at home with my other dog’s “bo bo’s(toys)” and slept on the sofa. She’s beautifully tempered..loves EVERYONE.We got x-rays yesterday, shots, blood tests, wormed and some Frontline.Should have seen her lil self prancing around clean and shiny.Made it ALL worth it.
I sit here now in tears I scared her so badly. All I did was start sweeping the floor. When she came in and saw the broom she FREAKED. She screamed bloody murder, she fell down and she shook and peed all over herself. She’s still in the corner. The vet said she’ll outgrow it. He’s not holding the broom! What do I do?
Okay….now she’s out of the corner…and she’s actively eating the broom. I think I’m going to let her have it. Maybe if she “kills it” she’ll feel better. The barking and snarling at it sure beats what happened earlier.
You are all much too kind but thank you so much for your compassion. I don’t deserve any credit for anything. I’m just the messenger. God deserves the credit, for leading someone to her that he knew would never leave her stranded there alone to be killed.

Answer by 2gadoo
She must have been beaten by a broom. Don’t worry about it she will be fine. I give you lots of credit for taking her in. Many would have just drove by.
Question: Obsessed with babies, is this even normal?
I have a friend who has been pretty obsessed with having babies. She’s only 21. Over the past few years, she’s had 3 pregnancy scares, and all of those times she wasn’t actually pregnant. The last time, she stopped taking birth control and eventually admitted to me that she wanted a baby. The guy she is with now, she married him months ago (after her last pregnancy scare, they weren’t even engaged, then they woke up and decided “let’s get married in two weeks).
Basically everyone around her can tell she’s obsessed with babies. Complete strangers can tell she has baby fever–she will sit in public and talk about babies, look through catalogs of baby things, she will sit there and knit sweaters and hold them up to people and go “Do you think this would fit a 6 month old?” She will go up to a mother and her baby at the mall and play with and touch and coo over the baby until the mother gets noticeably annoyed. She has two cats, and she got a new self-cleaning litterbox and then HAPPENS to mention “Oh–did you know that you can’t scoop litter when you’re pregnant?!” It’s as if that is all she can think about.
Whenever she knows of someone who is having a baby, or meets someone with a baby, etc., she IMMEDIATELY wants to become part of that woman’s life. She swears that it’s “not” because there is a babies involved. She started to scare me when recently, I told her I was going to a baby shower. She didn’t know the woman that was pregnant, she had never met her in her life, yet the next day she came to my door with two boxes of sweaters, hats, blankets, toys, “mommy gadgets,” baby books, etc. Then, she was mad because she wasn’t invited to the baby shower, despite the fact that the woman doesn’t even know who she is.
I know I can’t tell her what to do… but I really want to talk to her about this, and I don’t know how. It’s very obvious with her that there is something else going on with her. I’m afraid that she married her husband solely because she has baby fever… and even more than that, I’m scared that she’s actually going to have a baby for the sake of having something “cute” to smother everyday and not actually take care of. She has enough trouble paying rent on her (cheap) apartment. Is this even normal behavior? How the hell do I talk to her about this?
Answer:
Answer by notyourbusness
It is not normal exactly, but I have seen many women experience it before. Explain to her that there is plenty of time for a baby. That if she wants a baby she needs to make sure she can provide for it.

Question: what do you think of this joke????
A little old woman went into a supermarket and walked up and down the aisles looking for pilchards, when she couldn’t find any she asked a shelfstacker. He explained they were all out until the next day, but being hard of hearing every half hr on the hr she asked him the same question, now getting really annoyed with her he screamed ” Can you spell cat as in cat food?”. “YES she replied c.a.t” ” Good said the man, and can you spell dog as in dog food?” “yes, she replied d.o.g” ” good said the man, and can u spell f**k as in pilchards?” “There is no f**k in pilchards she said!”
it doesn’t really matter what pilchards are, but for the sake of he person who asked it, pilchards are a tinned fish, andif you work it out the word cat appears in cat food as does the word dog in dog food but where does the word f**k appear in the word pilchards? that’s the joke. oh god someone please explain it i can’t lol

Question: Can you believe this? It was rat poisoning and they knew about for weeks………….?
(CBS News) NEW YORK Rat poison has been found in pet food blamed for the deaths of at least 16 cats and dogs, a spokeswoman for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets said Friday.
The toxin was identified as aminopterin, state Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker said in a statement. Aminopterin is used to kill rats in some countries, but it’s not registered for that use in the United States, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The officials did not say how they believe it got into the pet food.
Pet poison experts will be answering questions in a live chat on the ASPCA website at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Click here for a link to the website.
The substance was found at a level of at least 40 parts per million in tested cat food samples, according to Donald Smith, dean of Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Testing was done at the New York State Animal Health Diagnostic Center at Cornell and at the New York State Food Laboratory.
“Any amount of this product is too much in food,” Hooker said.
The lab tested three cat food samples provided by Menu Foods, the manufacturer that produced all the recalled food. Aminopterin was found in two samples. The lab has not tested any dog food.
Hooker said the lab would be testing individual components of the pet food.
Aminopterin, also used as a cancer drug, is highly toxic in high doses. It inhibits the growth of malignant cells and suppresses the immune system.
The Food and Drug Administration has said the investigation was focusing on wheat gluten in the food. Wheat gluten itself would not cause kidney failure, but the common ingredient could have been contaminated by heavy metals or mold toxins, the FDA said.
State and FBI officials said they knew of no criminal investigations in the case.
The pet deaths led to a recall of 60 million cans and pouches of pet food produced by Menu Foods and sold throughout North America under 95 brand names. There have been several reports of kidney failure in pets that ate the recalled brands, and the company has confirmed the deaths of 15 cats and one dog.
Menu Foods last week recalled “cuts and gravy” style dog and cat food. The recall sparked concern among pet owners across North America. It includes food sold under store brands carried by Wal-Mart, Kroger, Safeway and other large retailers, as well as private labels such as Iams, Nutro and Eukanuba.
A complete list of the recalled products along with product codes, descriptions and production dates was available from the Menu Foods Web site.
The recall has led to at least three lawsuits against Menu Foods from pet owners who allege their animals got sick or died after eating recalled food.
Mourning turned to outrage after owners learned that Menu Foods waited nearly a month before notifying the public, reports CBS News The Early Show veterinarian Dr. Debbye Turner. This means that unsuspecting owners were poisoning their pets.
“To find out they knew about this weeks ago, and that the cats they tested died!” former cat owner Dawn Marjerczyk told CBS. Marjerczyk’s cat died after eating some of the tainted cat food. “Why wasn’t it pulled off then? Why do so many people have to suffer right now?”
The company’s chief executive and president said Menu Foods delayed announcing the recall until it could confirm that the animals had eaten its product before dying. Two earlier complaints from consumers whose cats had died involved animals that lived outside or had access to a garage, which left open the possibility they had been poisoned by something other than contaminated food, he said.
Menu Foods also makes foods for zoo cats, but those products are unaffected by the recall.
A spokesman for New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said he was not aware of any criminal investigation involving the tainted food. FBI spokesman Paul Holstein in Albany said Friday he was not aware of any FBI involvement in the case.
“I don’t know where we’ll go from here,” he said.
