To keep your cat healthy a majority of time, all you really need to do is give him good shelter, food, and plenty of water. Like other living things however, cats can get sick from time to time no matter what you do.

As a cat owner, you’ll want to ensure that you feed your cat only the best. Premium cat food is the ideal for cats, as the food is designed to keep your pet happy and healthy. You’ll also need to pay attention to his behavior, so you’ll know when he’s sick and when to take him to the vet. Most of the more common ailments and sicknesses are minor, although there are some cases where a vet can be the determining factor between life and death for your cat.

Your cat’s behavior will be one of the most critical factors when you are trying to determine whether or not he is under the weather. Acting sluggish, laying around all the time, lack of energy and not eating are all signs that you need to take him to the vet immediately. His coat is also a good thing to watch as well. If you notice his coat dull and patchy or notice him shedding abnormally, you should contact your vet as soon as you possibly can.

Diarrhea and vomiting are sometimes common, even with basic sickness. On the other hand, if your cat seems to be doing either one of the two for more than a day, you should contact your veterinarian. Coughing is common as well, simply because coughing will cats dislodge hairballs. If your cat seems to be coughing for another reason, you should have him checked out as soon as possible.

To ensure that your cat isn’t subjected to various diseases, you should always make sure that he stays up do date with his vaccinations. There are several diseases out there that require vaccinations, including rabies and feline distemper. Feline distemper is one of most devastating diseases a cat can get, yet it is also one of the easiest to prevent as well. The disease strikes cats very fast, and leaves you as an own very little time to seek treatment.

Feline leukemia is another disease that is very deadly, yet can be prevented early on with the proper vaccinations. Although the disease isn’t possible for humans to contract, it can be spread quickly among cats. There are vaccinations that can treat the disease these days, although you’ll still want to be careful and not expose other cats around a cat you know has feline leukemia.

Another problem, which is very common with cats that stay outdoors, is worms. Cats that have worms will normally have a lackluster coat and little to no appetite. There are several different types of worms, including ringworm and hookworm. Worms can come from fleas, lice, or even the organs of dead rodents that cats consume. Normally, the cat will digest the eggs which will later mature and attach themselves to the walls of the intestines. If you feed your cat garlic frequently during feedings, it can help to protect him against worms.

Also, do not forget to keep yourself healthy. If you are not around, who will care for your cat? Keep your weight healthy and use a medifast coupon code to buy medifast products and keep your weight under control.

If you take care of your cat, chances are you’ll keep him healthy for years to come. You should always make sure he has quality food, and doesn’t miss any of his scheduled checkups with the vet. If he gets the proper vaccinations when he is required to get them, he should be safe against numerous pests and diseases. Taking the proper steps with your cat now will prevent anything from happening in the future.

Question: Why follow the Bible when the Bible advocates such horrible violence against cats?
“And should you find a cat wandering about, do not hesitate to give it a wound that causes it great pain, but not death.” – Deuteronomy 22:3

“And the people did what is good in the sight of the Lord, for they cut out the cat’s intestines, and cooked them for food” – Jeremiah 22:19

“And Jesus said unto them, ‘Cats are the servants of Satan himself, and should any of you come across one of them, be sure to torture it with hooks from a fishing rod and sewing needles.’” – Matthew 21:5

Question: Can Any commercial pet food be trusted? latest fda recall notice recalling some products from blue buffalo?
Blue Buffalo Recalls Can and Biscuit Products Due To Tampering By American Nutrition Inc.
Contact:
Consumer Inquiries:
1-800-919-2833
Media Inquiries:
David Petrie
1-203-762-9751
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Wilton, Connecticut, April 26, 2007- We at the Blue Buffalo Company have just learned that American Nutrition Inc. (ANI), the manufacturer of all our cans and biscuits, has been adding rice protein concentrate to our can formulas without our knowledge and without our approval. This is product tampering, and it apparently has been going on for some time. The can formulas that we developed, and trusted them to produce, never contained any rice protein concentrate. It appears that only an FDA investigation of ANI’s rice protein concentrate supplies forced them to reveal this product tampering to us.

While this activity by ANI is in itself unlawful, the situation is further clouded by the fact that ANI has been receiving rice protein concentrate from Wilber-Ellis, some of which the FDA has determined to be contaminated with melamine.

So while no BLUE or Spa Select canned product has tested positive for the presence of melamine, and there has been no reported illness due to any of our canned products, we simply cannot be sure of what ANI has been including in our formulas. For this reason, we have decided to remove all of our canned and biscuit products from retail distribution. While this may seem to many to be a major over-reaction, as other ANI customers will probably only recall the products that tested positive for melamine, we see this as a matter of integrity.

We founded Blue Buffalo on the principle of providing dogs and cats with the highest quality and most nutritious food, and we will not sell any product that doesn’t meet this standard. And under these circumstances, we cannot say that any products manufactured by ANI measure up.

The obvious question is “how could Blue Buffalo not know that ANI was putting rice protein concentrate into our canned food?” The answer is we trusted them. In business and in life, we all trust our partners to deal with us honestly. When we buy produce from our local grocery store, we are trusting growers, shippers and a series of handlers to have delivered a product that is safe and nutritious for our family. If any one of these parties betrays our trust, contaminated products can make their way to our dinner table.

And while we test for known toxins and contaminants, we don’t test for protein sources, like rice protein concentrate, especially when we did not formulate our products to contain them.

In the end, this all comes down to an issue of integrity, and ANI has not been honest with us and with the pet parents who buy our products. We will not put any product made by ANI on the shelf, and are temporarily withdrawing an important part of our business in order to be true to our pet parents.

We have already started the process of identifying a can and biscuit manufacturer with whom we can build a partnership based on trust. Once we have accomplished this, BLUE and Spa Select cans and BLUE Health Bars will be reintroduced with the high quality and superior nutrition that our brand stands for and that dogs and cats deserve.

We have informed our retail partners and the FDA about this action and will be cooperating with them to complete this recall quickly. The specific product involved includes all “BLUE” brand can dog foods, all “Spa Select” brand can cat foods and all “BLUE Health Bar” treats.

Consumers who have unused or partially used packages of any of these products should return them to their place of purchase for a complete refund.

All “BLUE” dry natural food for dogs and “Spa Select” dry natural foods for cats are not affected by this recall and are safe for consumption. Should consumers have a specific question, they can call the Company at 1-800-919-2833, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT, to receive more information.

First you should take your kitty to the Vet for a thorough examination to make sure he doesn’t have a medical problem. While you are there you can get the Vet to recommend a type or brand of cat food that will be easier for your kitty to digest and be less likely to give him gas.

Question: Does this annoy anyone else?
people who let their cats outside and then come here all upset that they have run away, or get run over or killed by an animal or their neighbor is upset with them because their cat is using their yard as a bathroom.

I feel really bad for those cats who are in those bad situations. if the owners don’t want to take care of the animals properly then take them to a no kill shelter.

another pet peve of mine, why people who can’t afford animals get them, how many people come here because their cat is sick or injured and they can’t afford the vet. or they buy crappy “food” for their cat and don’t understand why they are sick. Maybe go with out going out to eat a few times a week, go with out buying that new outfit or something so you can get the proper care for your animals. and if you just barely get by on your own, don’t take on taking care of an animal, it’s not fair to the animal.

common people!

Question: In desparate need of advice for caring for a young wild cat terrified of humans?
This past April I was horrified to spot a young & emaciated wild cat in the back woods of my apt. — first spotted by my neighbor in Dec., 2005 who said he was feeding him – evidently not enough as the cat’s bones were showing. Since that day of falling in love with him, “White Socks,” I’ve faithfully been feeding him, “9 Lives” canned food, “Friskies” dry food along w/ ‘Half & Half’ to drink – He won’t drink water but from puddles and my neighbor found that he preferred the above vs. milk. Frequented twice a day for feeding, it’s been difficult to establish a schedule, there’s another tamed/outdoor cat that perhaps due to cooler weather has become aggressive/territorial. I’ve recently resorted to spending hours at my window protecting my love’s food. With winter approaching I’m terrified as how to help my cat. Pls, tell me how to win him over, food isn’t enough. Two immediate concerns – what to feed in the winter and how to provide a warm secure haven on my baron porch. Thk You

My sister rescues wild cats. At the beginning she was feeding them than she decided to trap and spay/neuter and re-release. She ended up placing or keeping them in the end so I will try to give you as much information as possible. Initially she was feeding them and then she obtained a trap. The trap you can either buy or borrow from a rescue of wild animals sanctuary. They are less than $ 100.00. The most knowledgeable one was the most difficult so she had to refrain from feeding for a day. She then placed the favourite food of the cat in the cage and with her being hungry she went in. She was immediately spayed. My sister closed most doors in her house and left the cat in a large cage in the house. Eventually she opened the door so she could come out. With out pushing the cat she did not let her hide. The only reason these cats will bother with you at first is because of the food. She made the cat come out for food. It will take time but eventually your wild child will come around. At one point in time she had a propane heater going outside so the cat had a heat source. She would regularly change the water, have a dry food at all times and canned. They knew when the food was coming out if you feed at approximately the same time. If you need more information, please contact me direct. Best of Luck!

Question: why can animals always eat the same food and still be healthy and never get tired of it but humans can’t?
why is it that dogs, cats, hamsters, e.t.c. can always eat the same dog food, cat food, e.t.c. that they are given every day and never seem to get tired of it and always seem to get the right nutrients and be healthy, whereas humans have to eat all different kinds of foods to recieve the correct balance of nutrients and would probably get tired of eating the same thing every day? Why can’t there just be like a single “human food” like there is dog food and cat food that humans can just eat it every day and get the right nutrients, e.t.c.? That would be so much easier for some people than having to worry about eating all different kinds of foods. If they can do it for animals surely they can do it for people too.
